Chinese Village Mistakes Covert Sex Toy For Rare Mushroom

Sex toys disguised as everyday objects is a growing trend and certainly useful when you have roommates, nosy friends, or curious kids getting into your bedside table – which is the best part about the Screaming O Studio Collection, cleverly disguised as everyday cosmetics.

But for a village in China, the sexy secret went a little too far.

Members of the rural village Liucunbu were drilling a well shaft when they found a soft, fungus-like object that appeared to have a mushroom cap on each end. The cylindrical form confused them at first and they called a local news station to check it out.

What they believed they had in their hands was a rare mushroom, and news reporter Yunfeng Ye investigated the object to figure out what genus it could have come from. The result was a report that described the mystical mushroom as a type of lingzhi, a shelf fungus of the Ganoderma lucidum species. Its rarity was due in part to their belief that the mushroom only grows deep underground.

But when the program aired, many viewers recognized the floppy object not as a fancy fungus, but as a sex toy for men. Specifically, a stroker (aka masturbator sleeve) with one end shaped to resemble a vagina. Whoops.

It seems that some sex toys, mini vibrators and dildos are so stealth they can create a commotion – though we’re pretty sure if villagers had washed that thing and taken a whiff they would have realized that rubbery smell isn’t indigenous to fungi.

Fortunately for the rest of the world, the Screaming O Studio Collection has the perfect balance of chic and discreet. At first glance no one will know that Lipstick, Mascara, Makeup Brush, Eyeshadow or Lip Gloss secretly vibrate – but we’re pretty sure snooping eyes won’t call ABC News for an investigative report.
